Loughrea Rams F.C. – A Brief History
The Club as we know it today was formed in 1985. Since then it has competed in the Galway & District Junior Football League.
This season is the Rams 35th consecutive year in the Galway League. A lot of other clubs have come and gone since and it is a credit to the town, the club and its members to have maintained its participation throughout.
The Loughrea Rams have enjoyed varied success over the years. The first trophy was won back in 1989 with the club winning the Division 2 Cup. And a first League title came in the 1999/2000 season as champions of Division 2.
Recent years has seen the club set up juvenile age groups in both Boys and Girls, ranging from under 18 down to under 6.
With over 250 juvenile members, these players are one of the most important factors in sustaining the club into the future.
A club is reliant on the commitment of volunteers to develop and progress. Over the last 35 years there have been numerous people from the town who have given massive time and commitment towards the club. Without these people there wouldn’t be a Loughrea Rams Club and we are truly grateful for their support.
